A Humidifier With No Filter Saves Time and Money

A humidifier with no filter is incredibly common. Most people prefer this type of humidifier because it is less maintenance than one with a filter. These humidifiers are easy to take care of because you simply clean them and wipe them off instead of cleaning and changing the filter.

A filter is used on some humidifiers to absorb the water from the reservoir and release into the air. It also acts as a filter sucking all the harmful particles and minerals out of the air and water.

Humidifiers with no filter use a much less complex system to clean the water, electricity heats the water to a steam that is released. These humidifiers with no filter are steam humidifiers, or vaporizers.

A benefit of steam humidifiers is how closely you control the level of humidity. The temperature of the heat is dependent on the temperature of the room.

Many people buy these humidifiers to help relieve cold, flu and sinus symptoms. Often medicine is added to the water in the base to intensify the relief.

There are two important problems to acknowledge with humidifiers with no filter. These units need to be placed out of the reach of children. The steam that exits the unit is extremely hot and can easily burn a child. Because the machine uses electricity to generate heat, it also can become very hot. Do not leave it on the floor or upholstery because it can be a fire hazard.

Despite these problems, a humidifier with no filter is one of the most economical humidifiers. The unit itself is often inexpensive. Unlike other types of humidifiers, tap water can be used in the tank. The minerals that may be harmful are boiled out. Beyond that you do not have to purchase filters to change every few months. However, this unit uses more electricity than an evaporative humidifier. On average a humidifier with no filter that releases 350g of water will use 325 watts of energy, but an evaporative model would use only 10-20 watts. A humidifier with no filter uses more energy because it heats the water with electricity before release.

Maintenance on humidifiers with no filters is extremely simply. Empty the tank of water then add lime scale remover and a small amount of water, and let it sit for a few minutes. Rinse the cleansers out and wipe the unit dry and then it is ready for use.

All the Basics on Humidifiers

A humidifier is used to add moisture to homes and businesses that may otherwise lack it. During the winter months the combination of low or freezing temperatures and heating systems leads to dry and very stale air. Dry air can irritate skin, lips, colds, flues, sinus issues, coughs and even the structure of your home.

If your home needs a humidifier it can be an overwhelming decision determining what humidifier is right for your home and for your family. The first decision to make is whether you want to purchase a warm mist humidifier or cool mist humidifier.

Warm mist units use electricity to boil water and release steam into the air. These are the most economical because the units are cheaper and use tap water instead of distilled. Two problems may occur with a warm mist humidifier. The first is the extremely hot water dispensing into the air may cause burns. The other problem is the machine can become very hot so if left on the carpet or upholstery it may cause a fire. Simple precautions and awareness will prevent these problems from occurring. Warm mist units do require more energy than cool mist humidifiers. However, you can use tap water instead of distilled.

The other choice is a cool mist humidifier. There are three types of cool mist humidifiers to consider. The first is an ultrasonic humidifier. This machine creates cool mist by the means of vibrations. The second is impeller technology. Disks break up the water and project it into the air. Finally there is the evaporative style that uses a fan to blow the water into the air. Regardless what type of cool mist humidifier is used, distilled water must be used because the water goes directly into the air without filtering. There is one major danger with the cold humidifiers. Due to the lack of heat, the water in the tank is susceptible to breeding dangerous bacteria.

There is an easy way to prevent this problem, be sure to clean your humidifier as suggested by the manufacturer. Simple cleaning procedure is empty the tank and washing with water daily. Be sure to clean your warm mist humidifier as well when the filter is dirty. A dirty filter can send harmful particles into the air.

Make sure you only run a humidifier when needed. Although they solve dry air problems, too much moisture can cause serious problems.

How to Repair Whirlpool Washer Parts - Coupler

The Whirlpool washer coupler takes the place of the belt that is used on the older style washers. If your washer does not agitate or spin, there is a good chance the coupler is broke. The best way to change the coupler is to remove the cabinet. This is easier then it sounds. The first thing you need to do (after disconnecting the power) is to loosen the control panel. There are four different designs. The most common control panel is held in place to the cabinet with two screws at the base of the panel, on the right and left edge. The next common style is there are two screws on the backside of the panel on the right and left side. The third design is there are trim pieces attached to the control panel on each end. These trim pieces will pop off with a simple tug at the top After you remove the trim, you will find two screws in the front corners. The newest design is that there are spring style clip under the end caps of the control panel. You can release these clips with a butter knife or scrapper. You need to push the tool under the end caps and raise the control panel.

Tools you will need are: 1/4" or 5/16" socket or nut driver, standard screw driver, small hammer, 1/2" socket with extension, pliers.

After you have loosened the panel, all you do is lift it upward and let it rest over the back panel of the washer. Now we need to disconnect the lid switch harness and remove the cabinet from the frame. To do this, you need to locate a spring clip on the outer edge of the top of the cabinet. You can release these clips by using a screw driver or sharp tool. Once you get the clips released, grab the cabinet and pull it toward you. The cabinet should hinge at the bottom front. Now you can pull the cabinet away from the frame and set it off to the side. Now you will need to release the clips that hold the pump to the motor. Take the clips completely off the motor. Next you need to take the screws out of the clips that hold the motor to the transmission and remove the clips using a standard screw driver. After these clips are removed, the motor should just fall toward the floor. Next you will need to unplug the motor wire harness from the motor and set the motor off to the side. At this point, you should be able to see all three parts to the coupler. Remove all three parts from the transmission and motor with a standard screw driver and inspect them for any cracks or broken parts. If the coupler is not broke in any way, there will probably be a problem with the transmission.

Now you are ready to install the new coupler. First put one piece (white plastic piece) on the transmission shaft. This is where you need the 1/2" socket and extension. Line up the coupler to the shaft of the transmission and tap it on the rest of the way with the 1/2" socket. You will not need to use much force. Repeat this process when putting the coupler on the motor. The third part of the coupler actually connects the motor and transmission together. You need to line up the post on the coupler with the holes in the rubber piece. Once this is done, put the clips back on the motor and reinsert the screws. Now you can plug the harness to the motor and reinstall the clips that hold the pump to the motor.

You are almost there. The cabinet is next to be put back on the frame. Push the front on the cabinet under the front edge of the frame and then let the cabinet fall towars the back panel. The side panels of the cabinet should rest on the frame tightly. If the side are bowing out, one side at a time you need to push the rear edge of the panel inward and lock on the frame. Reinstall the spring clips at the top and plug in the lid switch. Roll the control panel back over the cabinet and reinstall the screws or clips.

After the control panel is locked down, plug the washer back in and try the spin cycle. After you are sure the spin cycle is working, try the wash cycle and be sure it is ok. Now you are ready to do the wash and be proud of what you have done in repairing your washer.

Good luck in your repair experience!!

1 Simple Way to Buy a Discount Bunn Coffee Maker

The first thing in finding a discount Bunn coffee maker is to look for it. Technology such as internet helps a lot in this sourcing and comparing process. Of course, this is not the method which I am going to recommend.

Using the internet to look for discounted products is easy but very tedious. All you need to do is to use the relevant terms such as cheap, low price or discounted and plenty of sites would popped up. The sieving for the sites with the best cost is the tough part. Even if you want to just stay within the top 10 results, the clicking in and out of the sites would take you at least an hour.

You might be thinking that looking at the price of Bunn coffee brewer with just 10 sites should not take this long, you are right. To really get the lowest price, I am looking at two other variables.

Other than price, another factor that you should know is the delivery charges. Some website can charge very low pricing on their products but have very complicated delivery charges. And if you do not calculated properly, sometimes you can end out paying more. Another important element when buying products online are warranties. Not all products come with full warranty. Bunn official site would provide you with a 3 year full warranty, this mean that anything spoil and they would exchange it for you.

Having a warranty meant that the lifespan of your product is extended, so in monetary term, it is quite valuable. Some shopping sites, requires you to top up money for warranty, which might not make the overall package a good deal. All the above would assist you to identify a low cost Bunn coffee brewer, but that is not the way which I am recommending to you. The best way to get a really cheap machine is to be get a refurbished set.

Sure, it is not new but if you are willing to spend some time choosing and waiting for one that has it internal parts changed to a new one, it is almost as good as new.

In the end, the parts are what matters when brewing coffee so if you can get a set with new machinery, it is as good as a new one. Moreover, to attract consumers into buying their coffee maker, most sites selling refurbished brewers also offers 3 year warranty. And this is much simpler than the rest of the methods, all you need to do is identify and wait for the right one. I believe you do not need to visit more than 2 websites to do all these. There you have it, a simple way to get a cheaper Bunn coffee maker. Hope this article would assist you to save some money and at the same time better your coffee experience.

Precautions to Consider Before Purchasing a Water Filter

The necessity for water filtration is pretty evident with the fact that if no filtration would be installed to filter water the human body using the contaminated water acts like one and keeps all the contaminants within it. This may cause long term damage on the human body.

It is important to choose the right kind of filtration in relationship with the quality of water in the area and kind of contaminants the water carries. This is undoubtedly the most significant step to ensure clean, fresh and healthy supply. Most waterborne diseases like typhoid and cholera were the root cause of death about half a century ago. This made the use of chemicals like chlorine prevalent for cleaning the contamination in the water. Chlorine though was successful in eliminating most of the contamination that caused widespread problems among humans; its own effect on the human health has remained in question since it has been used for cleaning up water. It has been established by various studies now that chlorine and its byproducts do cause different kind of hazards for human health.

Contents include quantities of solids like magnesium and calcium that are often dissolved in it with ease. There isn't strict guidelines that specify the minimum amounts of these minerals to make the water contaminated. In fact, it is suggested that the good healthy water should be having some quantity of these minerals. Water filters do not remove the minerals dissolved in the water however some of them are designed to regulate the quantities of these minerals. It is also believed that the presence of minerals helps the water to keep other damaging contamination to the minimum.

Sometimes the filters acquire air pockets because of their continued siphon action even when their faucets remain closed. This results in the filtered water to look somewhat like milk or clouds. The bubbles in the filtered water that cause the cloudy or milky look vanish in some time if the water remains stationary in a vessel or a carrier. The air pockets can be cleared from the filter cartridges by running the water through the cartridge for some time by turning it upside down.

It is not recommended to filter hot water through the filters as it may cause the seals and tubes used in the filters to become soft and start leaking. This is a more likely possibility in counter top filters as compared to shower water filters which are less vulnerable to such kind of damage. Many households actually use shower water filters for filtering water from their drinking resources as well so that the contamination by inhalation as well as body absorption also goes down.

A whole house filter would be needed when the user is conscious about having all round protection from water contamination be it for drinking, bathing or cleaning up purposes. The usage of such filtration vastly increases the quality of the air within the household. It would be advisable to use a point of use water filter where the emphasis is on a better quality of water for drinking purposes. Such filters effectively clean up the water from the contaminants that may spoil the water because of the plumbing system in the house e.g. vinyl chloride or lead contamination.

Before a filter is chosen, due consideration should be given to the fact that it is certified and validated by the state's department of health.

The Big Chill - What to Look Out For When Buying Your New Fridge-Freezer

When buying a new fridge freezer the first thing that you should consider is your eating and storage habits. Do you like to store a lot of frozen food whilst just keeping the bare essentials in the fridge? If this is you then you should opt for a model with a larger freezer and a smaller fridge. If you're the opposite and you prefer to store a lot of fresh food and regularly re-stock the fridge, then a model with a larger fridge compartment is the one you should go for. It is also important to consider the dimensions of your new fridge freezer to make sure that you have enough space to accommodate it within your kitchen.

Now you have the dimensions sorted it's time to move onto the features. Modern fridge freezers can do much more than just keep your food cool. You can rely on your new appliance to protect your food from bacteria, warn you if you accidentally leave the door open and even produce cold water and ice from the door. I will explain the benefits of some of these features, the model that is best for you will depend on your lifestyle, family and personal preference.

With modern life being so busy everyone needs help freeing up time so that they can concentrate on the more important things in life. If you want to free up some of your time then look out for fridge freezers with the following time beating features. Frost free freezers use a constant flow of cool air around the appliance to prevent the build up of ice within the freezer - this means there is no need to waste hours defrosting your freezer. Anti spill shelves make cleaning up an accident within the fridge easy - all it takes is one quick wipe.

If you have young children around then you may be interested in a fridge freezer with built in safety features. Safety glass shelves are made to be more resilient to everyday wear and tear and they won't shatter if they do break, well that's one less thing to worry about. Child safety locks prevent your little angels from opening the appliance doors and leaving them open - or helping themselves to things that they shouldn't. The latest models also come with anti bacterial protection to minimise the spread of bacteria around the appliance - making sure your food is as safe as it can be at all times.

If the environment is something that plays on your mind then make sure that you look out for an appliance that has a high energy rating. Energy ratings for fridge freezers can reach up to a super efficient A++ - the energy efficiency rating runs from A++ to G, A++ is the most efficient and G is the least. You can also look for models that are energy recommended - these models are recommended by the Energy Saving Trust and you can be sure that they are amongst the most efficient on the market.

You may sometimes feel that the internal environment of your fridge freezer is too rigid and does not accommodate your lifestyle as well as it could. This now needn't be the case with many fridge freezers coming part and parcel with flexible storage solutions. Bottle storage, adjustable shelving, deep door storage, salad crispers and egg trays give you the opportunity to change the internal space within your appliance to suit your storage needs.

So as you can see there is a lot to consider when buying your new fridge freezer with lots of additional practical features and functions to sway your decision. Don't let this confuse you, just think what you use your fridge freezer for and what additional extras would really benefit you.

How Do Water Filters Work to Bring You Drinking Water Free From Contaminants?

With more than acceptable amounts of contaminants hitting our water supplies over the last few years, an increasing number of people are wondering how do water filters work to protect themselves and their families.

But in order to get an understanding of how they work, you need to be clear on the kinds of contaminants that are present in your water supply and the features of a home water filtration system.

With respect to the chemicals present in our water, there are over eighty thousand of them that are used for industrial purposes; any combination of them are capable of making their way into our water supply. Any combination of these chemicals could be found in the tap water that you are consuming right now.

Over 2,000 of these chemicals have been documented as known carcinogens. So, how do water filters work to thoroughly eliminate these kinds of contaminants?

They work through using a combination of an activated granular carbon filter and a multi media block. These two filters trap the chemicals, and turn them into solids, which are unable to penetrate the film across the filter face.

Apart from chemicals, there are also microscopic bacteria and parasites that are in your drinking water as well. These may cause stomach problems if ingested.

Contrary to what many people believe, not all of the microbes and parasites in your water supply are eradicated by the use of chlorine disinfection. Many still survive to pose a danger to the health of you and your family.

And how do water filters work to eliminate the risk of waterborne sicknesses affecting your family?

Through the use of what is known as a sub micron filter, all of the parasites and cysts become effectively blocked in much the same manner as with the earlier filters I talked. The exception is that the microbes are already in solid form, so they are basically trapped.

You should also be aware that toxic metals, such as copper and lead, can find its way into your tap water.

These metals generally get into your drinking water by leaching off of the very pipes that carry the water to and throughout your home. So potentially dangerous are these chemicals, that even in low doses, ingesting lead for example, may cause neurological damage.

How do water filters work in order to remove the threat of heavy metal poisoning?

There is a device used called an ion exchange unit, that magnetizes the metal traces and then replaces them in your water with potassium and sodium. This filter will also keep the pH balance of your water perfect so that you water will taste great every time.

How do water filters work? They work by using the tiered filtration system talked about earlier, that simultaneously focuses on all types of drinking water contaminants, so that nothing gets by.

You get obtain this tiered system in a high quality counterop or undersink drinking water filter. Very importantly, these purifiers are affordable and will help maintain the health and safety of you and your family.

A Quick Guide to Belgian Waffle Makers

Waffles have a long history. Their roots can be traced back to the middle ages when "wafers" were sold on the street by vendors. The first home waffle maker was sold in 1911 and since that time they have become a popular appliance in the kitchen. The right waffle maker can ensure that you can create waffles quickly and easily for your family or special guests.

One of the more popular types of waffle makers is the Belgian maker. These types of makers enable you to bake Belgian-style waffles easily. The name of Belgian waffles can be misleading because they aren't actually from Belgium but from Brussels. The confusion arose when these types of waffles were introduced to America and Americans got the two places mixed up.

You can find Belgian waffles makers used everywhere. Some of the most famous restaurants use these makers for deserts and even on the streets of Belgium. So famous are these types of makers that some people collect them just like stamps or trading cards. For most people though, they are simply happy to have a Belgian waffle maker for their home kitchen to use when they want.

If you are looking to buy one of these types of makers then a good brand to look for is Villaware. This company makes high quality kitchen appliances and has done so for years. There are many places online where you can order their products or your local department store is bound to stock them. You should look for a maker which enables you to control the temperature so that you can cook the waffle to your liking.

After purchasing your Belgian waffle maker you should start looking waffle recipes. Sometimes you can get a waffle recipe book with the maker itself. There are many different types of Belgian waffles and you can add sort of flavors to suit your taste. The internet is also a great place to find waffle recipes.

A Belgian waffle maker can be a fantastic addition to your kitchen. You will be able to make special treats for breakfast or desert quickly and easily.

What I've Noticed About Having a Water Softener

I have to admit, buying a water softener is really one of life's less interesting purchases. Almost boring, and for the money you end up spending you'd hope for a little more enjoyment out of it. We got ours at sears. Our desire to buy one started because I had filled out a little card to win a car at a home show, not knowing that it was automatically giving my information to the local water softener services so they could pay you a visit, tell you how bad your water is and try to sign you up for their services. Places like Culligan and other such services. Now, for some people those are a fine deal and worth doing. For anyone who can handle the installation of their own unit and doesn't mind adding salt themselves (at only $4 a bag it's not bad) then you'd save a lot more money in the long run by just getting your own water softener and handling the maintenance yourself.

So we thanked the guys for telling us our water was too hard, although they couldn't come up with any impurities because our town water is actually pretty good. Then we researched various water softener reviews and went to various home improvement stores the next weekend and priced out our options. We spent about $320 on a decent water softener that would hold about 5-6 bags of salt and that would last about 6-8 months. So instead of paying $20 a month for the professional service plus the unit cost (slightly reduced I think), we could pay $24 for salt every 6-8 months. Seemed like a no brainer to me.

They said it would reduce the amount of soap we needed when washing dishes and clothes and that we'd notice it in the shower when the soap got foamier. To that aspect I think they were right. So it is saving us a bit on soap, which helps even more.

The Best Way to Choose Under Sink Water Filters

Are you looking to buy one of those high priced under sink water filters? If you are, please take a moment and read this article. I have something very important to share with you. By the time you finish reading this article, you will be in a position to make an informed decision and choose the right kind of water filter.

An undersink water filter typically costs more than other types of water filters as there is a need for a separate faucet in this case. You need to drill a new hole to fit in this faucet which usually comes along with the filter. By doing this, you tend to save some counter space.

You can find a lot of exorbitantly priced under sink water filters in the market today. They can cost you hundreds of dollars. Most people tend to buy these high priced water filters as they unnecessarily equate price and quality. The most common misconception among people is that the price of a water filter is directly proportional to its quality. They think that the higher the price, the better the quality. Unfortunately, it is not the case.

A lot of high priced water filters in the market are not that good at purifying tap water. The reason is very simple. The technology they are based on is not good enough to remove the wide range of contaminants present in tap water today. So, if you need to find a good undersink water filter, you need to find one with the best technology.

According to various research studies, there are two methods that can purify water very effectively - active carbon filtration and ion exchange. While the former removes the heavy metals like lead present in water, the latter removes contaminants like THMs, VOCs, and chlorine. As a result, the water you get is very pure and very safe to drink. Also, it tastes better. So, experts suggest that a combination of these two technologies can be really effective at purifying water to the right extent. So, you need to find a good water filter based on these technologies to make sure the water you drink is pure and tasty.

The best part about going for under sink water filters based on these technologies is that they cost very little. A good water filter based on these technologies will cost you only under $200, which is quite a bargain. So, it is not only effective, but also cost effective. What more can you ask for? Go get a good water filter today and enjoy the natural goodness of pure water every day.

Appliance Home Repair

Do you have a sick appliance? Are you considering throwing it away and getting a new one because you don't want to be bothered with having a repairman charge you or come look at it and then end up paying for both the service call and the repair - or worse yet, paying for the service call and discovering that the repair is just too expensive anyway? What a waste of dollars, right? Well, if you are like most folks, you need to pinch your pennies a little bit tighter now that we are officially in a recession, so appliance home repair might be the next big thing and might give you the chance to keep your appliances longer without having to fork out the big bucks to a repairman in the process.

Appliance home repair may seem like a really scary idea - especially if you are a woman who has absolutely no experience with fixing anything, but let me just tell you - if I can do it, you can, too. Here is my story:

One day, as I was about to do my umpteenth load of laundry, I lifted the lid of my washing machine and off popped this little spring from somewhere under the hood. I knew that was wrong of course - I mean no appliance I supposed to have springs bouncing off of it - but I guess I was just hoping for the best. I shut the lid fully expecting the full washer to start washing my clothes. It didn't happen. I had to empty the washer with a bucket and pitcher so the water wouldn't stink, and I spent the next three months going to the Laundromat. Finally, one day, I got sick of it and sat down at my PC and typed in washer home repair. I really wasn't ready to fix it myself, but the appliance home repair site gave me some much-needed info. I discovered what that spring was and why my washer wouldn't do anything. I eventually called in a repairman, but I watched him carefully, and lo and behold, about four months later, my daughter had the same problem with her washing machine (same kind as mine). I went to the hardware store, got the part I needed, and about two hours later, my daughter was washing clothes again.

Appliance home repair can be learned, even by we women who never thought we would ever want or need to learn. I saw the respect in my grown daughter's eyes that day, and you can experience that, too.

Reverse Osmosis Equipment - The Alarming Facts That Will Get You Turning Off This Equipment Fast

Reverse osmosis equipment comes in many shapes and sizes, but all of it is driven from one central, basic scientific concept that has been used to successfully treat water commercially for over 50 years. Reverse osmosis equipment has literally made the desert bloom in vast tracts of former desert in the Middle East where is used by farmers to turn salt water into fresh water that is good enough to grow crops with.

The same equipment is found in submarines under all the world's oceans,. Sailors are able to drink the treated water safely because they will soon be back on port with normal, healthy, fresh water available to them.

And many municipal water authorities install reverse osmosis equipment in the large city water treatment plants where it will produce water that will meet federal standards as long as it is used in conjunction with other, different types of water purifiers.

But you won't find any reverse osmosis equipment in my home. Ever.

Right now I live in a small city with some of the best water in the country coming untreated into my taps. But when I've lived in other less-blessed places, and I've been concerned enough to filter my drinking water, my wife and I did not use reverse osmosis equipment to treat our household water.

There are three simple reasons why we don't use reverse osmosis equipment.

First, it is wasteful.

For every gallon was treated water produced by this equipment something like three gallons of untreated, dirty water are poured down the drain unused. That has got to be bad for the environment. It is certainly inefficient.

Second, and most importantly, this equipment strips out the healthy minerals from water.

Depending on where you live, many essential, trace elements that your body needs are found in your water. These minerals like calcium and magnesium are dissolved in the ground water deep beneath the earth and slowly, over great stretches of time, are brought to the surface where some of them find their way into the water supply. As you drink them your body receives the essential minerals it needs to grow and develop.

But reverse osmosis equipment blocks these minerals. The water coming from this equipment is mineral-free. This is because minerals generally have a molecular structure larger than water. And at the heart of all this equipment is an extremely fine membrane that physically strains out anything bigger than a water molecule.

Third, reverse osmosis equipment is unable to stop any chemical contaminants that have a molecular structure smaller than water. And there are plenty of them.

If your home depended for drinking water on reverse osmosis equipment then you'd be exposing yourself to all kinds of unhealthy contaminants.

What you need to do is find a set of alternative filters for your home that will block the chemicals and yet leave in the healthy, essential trace minerals your body absolutely must have.

There are systems out there which will do this. You will find them on the Internet, of course. And actually you may want to begin at my web site. Because it has a lot of helpful information that visitors find useful. In fact I'd encourage you to go ahead and click now to my site to begin your search.

Home Reverse Osmosis - Two Frightening Facts That Convinced Me to Never Install it in Our Home

When you are looking for a water purification system for the home reverse osmosis is often suggested. It is a scientific system that has been used for 50 years or more, and is currently pumping water into homes in many cities across this country. But for a home reverse osmosis treatment systems are unhelpful, and in many locations would be unhealthy.

Let me explain.

Reverse osmosis works by getting water to pass through an extremely fine membrane. Now just think about that. The membrane will block everything that has a molecular structure larger than water. And it will let through anything with a smaller size.

Since many chemicals and pharmaceuticals have a smaller molecular size than water, for your home reverse osmosis equipment will let them through. You'll be drinking contaminated water. So if your water supply is laced with tiny traces of chemicals from farm run off, or factories in industrial zones, you will be in danger's way.

But even more significantly, the essential trace minerals y our body absolutely must have to remain healthy -- things like calcium and magnesium -- all have a molecular size that's bigger than water. So your home reverse osmosis equipment will stop you getting your daily intake of these vital elements from drinking water. Which is the way humans have been getting them for thousands of years.

So this is why in our home reverse osmosis purification systems will never be installed. We used other treatment systems, and I recommend you do the same.

The Internet is a perfect place to begin looking for alternatives to a home reverse osmosis system. In fact, you might like to begin your search at my own web site, which has a lot of helpful information about treatment systems that deliver minerals and block chemical contaminants.

For Clean, Long-Lasting Heat, Soapstone Stoves Are the Answer

Since much of the country is socked in with chilly winter weather, many people's thoughts have turned to heating their homes and offices. If you need an attractive solution to your heating needs, soapstone stoves fit the bill perfectly. They burn cleanly, hold heat greatly, and offer an excellent answer for those who not only want a great stove, but also want to make a design statement.

Many homeowners turn to soapstone, a veined metamorphic type of rock, as the preferred material from which to build a stove. Soapstone stoves provide the perfect burning chambers for many different types of fuels, because they burn the fuel completely. Unlike a traditional fireplace, which leaves behind a mess of soot, ash and creosote buildup for you to clean, soapstone stoves burn completely and cleanly? There is no mess to clean from inside soapstone stoves, because the stove burns so hot there is nothing left of the fuel besides a trace amount of mineral content after the fuel has been consumed by the flames. Because there are no after products of the burned fuel, soapstone stoves alleviate the harm that can come from breathing in smoke and being exposed to creosote, and instead leaves your interior air clean and fresh.

Soapstone is also sought after by stove manufacturers because of its ability to radiate heat very efficiently. Soapstone can both hold heat as the fuel is burned, and then it is able to release the heat from the fuel slowly over time. This means that you and your family will enjoy the heating benefits of the fuel you use, even after the fuel is used up. This feature is another benefit that comes through using soapstone stoves.

The benefits that come from using soapstone can also be applied to an existing fireplace. If you line a fireplace with soapstone, you can increase its efficiency dramatically.

One of the main attractions that soapstone holds for many consumers is the fact that it is a beautiful stone. It comes in several natural colors such as pearl grey and dark green, ranging from light to dark, and features intricate veining that adds a unique look to whatever its application. Certain stones can be oiled, giving the stone another attractive look by bringing out the undertones. Soapstone comes in slabs and blocks, and these are the materials which, in the hands of a craftsperson, can transform the soapstone into a one-of-a-kind interior design work of art when made into a stove for your home or office

Reverse Osmosis Membrane Facts - Discover If Their Tiny Pores Actually Will Protect Your Family

A reverse osmosis membrane is at the heart of this complex water treatment system. All the science that is packed into these treatment devices is forcing water through the extremely tiny pores in the membrane.

So the reverse osmosis membrane holds the key to how good the device is -- and right at the start let me warn you that these devices are not all that good for keeping households safe.

There are three types of reverse osmosis membrane. Each is distinguished by the size of the pores.

One of the earlier uses for reverse osmosis water treatment equipment was in Middle East desert coastline farms where it turned sea water into brackish water that was 'fresh' enough to irrigate crops. The membranes for these are built to take pressures of 7000kPa and have pores tiny enough to block all but 1 percent of 32,000mg/L salt.

If the reverse osmosis membranes are installed to treat brackish water will take pressures of up to 1500kPa and have slightly bigger pores. In these membranes all but 1 percent of 2,000mg/L salt in the water will be blocked.

Finally there are reverse osmosis membranes designed to work under low pressure and used by city water treatment authorities. These will take around 800 or 900kPa of pressure and their bigger pores will block all but 1 percent of water containing around 500mg/L salt.

The unfortunate fact with these membranes is that they block out the healthy minerals we normally get from water, like calcium and magnesium. These and other essential minerals our bodies absolutely must have, and which come naturally to us as we eat and drink, are located deep in the earth. Ground water dissolves minute traces of them and slowly these dissolved minerals rise to the surface and enter the water sources where we draw our drinking water. We must have them, but reverse osmosis membranes block them because their molecular size is larger than the molecular size of water. They are too big to pass through.

But this is even worse, because while the membrane pores are tiny they are still too big to stop many dangerous chemicals and pharmaceuticals that will find their way into your water supply if you are drawing on water that is affected by farm run-off or industrial factories. The molecular size of these compounds is often so small they pass through easily.

There are no chemicals or pharmaceuticals in deep ocean water, so reverse osmosis is used to treat water in submarines. The sailors will still not get healthy minerals while on duty, but they will be in port regularly and for long periods and the navy deems this is enough.

But your home needs to be better protected. Instead of using a treatment system based on a reverse osmosis membrane, you need to find a system that will stop traces of chemicals and pharmaceuticals getting into your drinking water and at the same time permit the vital, natural essential minerals to pass through. There are systems out there that will do this economically and you will find them on the Internet. Actually my own web site has a lot of useful information about this very thing, so maybe you'd want to start looking there. Click across to my site now, if that would help you, as many people have found it helpful.

Why an AA Lithium Battery Trumps the Competition

You have heard of the lithium battery and many company's attempts to market it as one of the best technological breakthroughs in mobile power packages in the past century. The lithium battery has taken over the normal alkaline battery in many respects, and has indeed trumped the competition. The very fact of the matter is, it lasts much longer than their older counterparts and have a greater appeal to want to add that bit of longevity into their mobile and hand held appliance. This article will discuss a bit about the technology behind the lithium battery and why it is so good against the competition.

These batteries are normal disposable batteries that are made altogether of a either a lithium metal or a mixture of lithium compounds used as an anode. These small batteries have cells that can produce energy from anywhere of a range from 1.5 V to anything up and over 4.0 V. For those not in the know about power ratings of batteries, these values can be twice and even three times the power outputted by normal alkaline/zinc/carbon batteries that have been massed produce on the market.

That is a great increase over normal power productions and you can now understand how much more power it adds to the mobile industry. These voltage ratings depend on the chemical make up of the battery and the lithium cells that are being used. Different combinations and chemical reactions within the anode and cell can produce vastly different results, but all more powerful than their older counter parts. Why is there a production of so much power?

Well the science of it is really in the chemistry and the make up of the battery. Because of the unique combination of materials used, backed by research and quality control, this battery is more than twice the power of normal batteries. The large density of energy is in the lithium cell, and one of the best chemical combinations is the lithium-thionyl chloride cell, which is said to be producing the best amounts. In this cell, a mixture of liquid proportions containing thionyl chloride is placed together with lithium, and they both become a cathode and electrolyte - filling up the two important roles of a battery. A carbon material is then used to fill the role of a cathode collector current, which received the distributed electrons from the closed circuit in the battery.

Because of the material used and the lithium, the current generated is much higher and much more constant, which allows for the greater rating and capacity that you get. However, you may not see this sort of battery very often, as consumer markets seem to only sport batteries with an anode of metallic lithium and a cathode made up of manganese dioxide. With their wide applications and appliance lists that can benefit from this technology, lithium batteries give the extra edge of durability and increased power than will do all of us some good. With only a slight increase in the price over normal alkaline batteries, lithium batteries can keep up with a fast moving world that doesn't want to stop.

The Convenience of Electric and Automatic Can Openers

Manual can openers are generally cheaper, but you also get what you paid for. It is more difficult to maneuver. It is basically manipulated with your hands, getting force from the amount of work that a user exerted or applied. Some other disadvantage of these manual can openers is its tendency to jam and stick easily.

Nowadays the market is presented with other options. The electric and automatic can openers are proven better alternatives to the manual type in several ways.

In electric can openers, an electric motor grasps the blades and spins while encircling the lid to separate it from the can. Most models now are very portable and handy. The bigger ones are for commercial use.

Electric can openers have cords plugged to a power outlet to start operating. This type of can opener eliminates the hassle of exerting pressure on the tool to work. With a simple push of a button, it opens a can easily and more quickly. It is less messy and also produces a finer finish.

Aside from getting the job done faster, an electric opener requires little effort. Stainless steels are the better option although more expensive. It is rust resistant and can weather any condition. In the same way, automatic can openers are also much better than manually operated openers. It works in much the same manner as electric openers, only that automatic openers work on batteries. The good thing about this is that the batteries are usually rechargeable therefore very convenient. And it can work on occasions of sudden power outages.

Furthermore, automatic can openers are cordless. Some people prefer a cordless unit because it eliminates the hassle of entangling cords. Also, cordless automatic can openers make a kitchen look neater and more organized.

When buying electric or automatic can openers, study several models first that suit your preferences and needs. It is always good to read reviews from users also.
Check features and durability of the product. If for personal use only, a more portable can opener may be more functional. But if it will be used in restaurants, it might be better to buy the bulkier and more durable model.

Remember to use electric powered openers with caution. Check carefully before buying and make sure the unit you are getting is not defective. Such units usually have safety precautions, but just the same, avoid wetting the dangerous parts like the plug and the motor.

When newly bought, wash the device thoroughly first before starting to use. Avoid washing the cord or it may cause accidents when it is suddenly plugged in.

If your tool is not made of stainless steel, be sure to wipe it clean immediately after use to avoid from rusting. Rusting easily develops with moisture.

Pay close attention to the features and price before deciding on a model. It is good to read customer reviews to get the best value for money opener. There are many choices in the market and deciding on what to buy may be tricky. Just stick to your needs and budget.
