Take Care of Your Dishwasher

Dishwashers are one of the valuable creations meant to clean the utensils. Does it need to be cleaned too? Obviously, it also has to be cleaned. If left untouched, the debris may accumulate and may reduce your dishwasher's performance. However, it doesn't need a routine clean up. Here are some simple tips to keep your dishwasher equipment clean.

Use it regularly. Never run your dishwashers once in a blue moon. Regular usage of your dishwasher prevents your dishwasher free from building debris.

Check the spinning arms occasionally. Make sure that all the holes are open so that there is free circulation of water in the spray arms. Some times, impurities from the water can get clogged on the holes. Even some of the food particles may cling to the spray arm and can impede the water spray. You can use any pointed tool like a sharp needle or a tooth pick to remove the debris. You can handle many ways to remove the debris out. As pricking through the holes with a sharp needle is a painstaking process, you can also use a flexible metallic brush.

Clean the dead space of your dishwasher (the spot under the bottom of the door) where water never reaches. It should be wiped with a moist cloth.

Have an inspection on the bottom of your dishwasher around the drain. This is where the water is drained out after each wash cycle. Make sure that there is no clogging of the debris in this area. You can avoid the clogging by careful loading of your dishes after scrapping off the food items. If you're struck between your wash cycles, you simply need to disassemble it to make it work again.

While disassembling the dishwasher, you should make sure of the following points.

Remove the screws carefully. If you have a digital camera, take a snap shot to make sure of the repositioning of screws.

Seal the opening to prevent the debris from getting it in during the cleaning process.

Always use gloves to remove the solid debris as it may contain sharp items that may harm your fingers

You can use a brush to remove the clogs.

Re-place the screws and never over-tighten the screws as it can damage your equipment.

How to remove scales formed?

For many people, using hard water for dishwashing is a troublesome job due to scales formation. This may pose much hindrance for a clean wash cycle. A mild acid wash can de-scale the salt deposit. You can try lemonade or vinegar for a mild wash.

Using bleaching agents may harm both your hand as well as your dishwasher. You may dilute with copious amount of water.

For tackling the rust stain, you can use dishwasher-safe rust remover

It is always recommended to refill your dishwasher's rinse aid dispenser once in a month. Depending on your water chemistry, it is wise to choose the substitute for rinse aid dispenser like "white vinegar".

Never use a softener and rinse aid together.

Nowadays, detergents with built-in rinse aid are available in market.

Eco-friendly liquid detergents are aplenty in market. Usage of such detergents can benefit both your dishwasher and your utensils.

Don't use detergents that contains excess amount of phosphates

If you show a little care for your dishwasher, you can enjoy the longevity of the product. You can also refer your User Manual for maximizing the safety of your smart gizmo. However, a safer operation of any machine needs extra care from the users. Dishwasher is no way an exception.
